This article introduces the most accessible route to the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal from Shinjuku Station of each line. The appropriate ticket Ticket Gates, exits, and points are listed.

You must want to get to Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal by the departure time. However, it is very crowded at the Shinjuku Station. Especially, if you make a mistake at the ticket Ticket Gate or exit, you may end up in a detour or get lost, and you may not be in time for the bus.

The shortest route to Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal is from "Shin-minami Ticket Gate"! (5:45 - 24:00)

JR is the best line to get to the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal. It takes only 2 minutes.
It is because "New South Ticket Gate" of JR Shinjuku Station is directly connected to the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal.
You won't get wet even it is raining. Since it takes only several minutes, it is easy to get to the bus terminal with big luggage. However, "New South Ticket Gate" is available only from 5:45 to 24:00. Try the following routes during out of hours.

1. Get out of "New South Ticket Gate" after getting off the train

Firstly, go to "New South Ticket Gate" after getting off the train.
Don't make a mistake! It is NOT "South Ticket Gate"

2. Take an escalator on the left

The place where you exit the "New South Ticket Gate" is on the 2nd floor of Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal.
Take the escalator on the left, which goes directly to the 4th floor where the highway bus stop is located.

3. Arrive at the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal

You will see the entrance of the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal on your left after taking a escaleator. That's easy!

Be careful! It may be very crowded to go to the busterminal from each Shinjuku Station of Odakyu Line and Shinjuku Line.

When "New South Ticket Gate" of JR line is closed, you need to go to the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal from the South Ticket Gate.
Usually, it takes 3 minutes from JR line and 4 minutes from Odakyu Line. However, the South Ticket Gate is always crowded. It is better to give yourself extra time when you have big luggage.

1. After arriving at Odakyu Shinjujuku Station, get out of "South Ticket Gate" and turn left

After arriving at Shinjuku Station of Odakyu Line, go to "South Ticket Gate" first. Turn left after getting out of the Ticket Gate.

2. When arriving at JR Shinjuku Station in early morning or midnight, exit the "South Ticket Gate".

When taking JR Line, go and exit "South Ticket Gate". The Shinjuku Station South Exit is in front of you. Just go straight. When taking Odakyu Line, you will find the signboard of "South Ticket Gate"of JR Shinjuku on your left. Just exit the gate.

3. Cross the pedestrian crossing in front of you

You will find the wide street called "Koshu Gaido" after getting out of the station. Cross the pedestrian crossing of this street.
The building over the street is the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal.

4. Take an escalator to up to the 3rd flood of Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal

There is an escalator that leads to Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal when you cross the pedestrian crossing.
Use this escalator to go up to the 3rd floor.

5. Go straight on the taxi stand

Take an escalator and find a taxi stand on the 3rd flood of Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal.
When you take a highway bus, follow the blue arrow on the floor.

6. Take an escalator on the right to up to the 4th floor

If you follow the blue arrow, there is an escalator that goes up to the 4th floor. Take it to go to the 4th floor where the highway bus stop is located.

7. You are at the bus terminal now!

Up to the 4th floor by escalator, and you arrive at the highway bus stops of Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal.

Be sure to give yourself extra time to get to the bus terminal from Shinjuku Station of Tokyo metro or Keio Line.

It may take more than 10 minutes from Shinjuku Station of Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line because it is not accessible and very crowded.
If you are not confident, it is better to choose another route or give yourself an extra time. If you use Keio Line, it is recommended to go through Keio Mall. It takes about 5 minutes.

1. Exit the "West Ticket Gate" after getting off Marunouchi Line

Go up the stairs from the platform to the ""West ticket gate"" and exit the ticket gate on your right.
After exiting the ticket gate, go straight and go up the stairs.

2. Pass through the passage with "MINIPLA" on your right

After going up the stairs, follow the narrow passage with MINIPLA on your right and pillar ads on your left.

3. Go diagonally to the right across "West Exit Square"

After passing the point where the JR ticket office is on your left and Godiva is on your right, you will find the "West Exit Square".
Cross the "West Exit Square" diagonally to the right. As soon as you reach the "West Exit Square", turn right and proceed to the taxi stand.

You will find a passage with a "blood donation room" on your left and an event corner on your right, so go straight on this passage.

4. Enter "Odakyu Ace South Building"

Find an underground shopping mall called "Odakyu Ace South Building" and go straight ahead.
If you keep going straight on the passage of "Odakyu Ace South Building", it will change to "Keio Mall" on the way.
Continue straight on "Keio Mall".

5. When using the Keio Line, go for the "Keio Department Store Exit" ticket gate

First, exit the "Keio Department Store Exit" ticket gate. As soon as you exit the ticket gate, turn right.

6. Turn left at the first corner and enter Keio Mall

Turn left at the first corner to enter "Keio Mall".
At this point, it joins the route from the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line.

7. After exiting Keio Mall, turn left and go up the stairs or take an escalator.

From both the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line and the Keio Line, go straight to the end of "Keio Mall".
After exiting Keio Mall, turn left and take the stairs or escalator upstairs.

When you go up one floor, turn right and go up one more floor.

8. Go straight with the Odakyu Line "South Exit Ticket Gate" on your left side.

If you go upstairs on the stairs or escalator and go straight, you will see the "South Exit Ticket Gate" of the Odakyu Line on your left, so go straight on.

9. When you arrive the JR "South Exit Ticket Gate", turn right and go outside.

As soon as you pass the "South Exit Ticket Gate" on the Odakyu Line, you will see the JR "South Exit Ticket Gate" on your left.
Shinjuku Station "South Exit" will be on your right, so please go outside the station.

10. Cross the pedestrian crossing in front of you

When you go outside, there is a pedestrian crossing to cross the big street (Koshu Kaido) in front of you. Cross the big street to the other side.
The building of Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal is across the street.

11. Take an escalator to the 3rd floor of Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal

There is an escalator that connects to Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal when you cross the pedestrian crossing. Take this escalator to go up to the 3rd floor.
It is directly below the word "バスタ新宿 (Shinjuku Experessway Bus Terminal in Japanese" in the building.

12. Go straight on the taxi stand

When you go up by escalator, you will arrive at the taxi stand on the 3rd floor of Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal.
To take the highway bus, follow the blue arrow on the floor.

13. Take an escalator on your right

If you follow the blue arrow, there is an escalator that goes up to the 4th floor. Take it to go to the 4th floor where the highway bus stop is located.

14. Now you are at the bus stop!

You will arrive at the bus stop of Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal on the 4th floor.

Accessible from each Shinjuku Station of Keio New Line, Toei Shinjuk Line and Oedo Line!

From Shinjuku Station on the Keio New Line, Toei Shinjuku Line, and Oedo Line, you can all take the same route to Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal. The route goes outside, not inside Shinjuku station, so you can arrive at your destination without getting lost. It only takes about 5 minutes, but you need to be careful on rainy days because you will be walking outside.

1. Go to the "Keio New Line Exit" ticket gate from the platform

Turn right immediately after exiting the "Keio New Line Exit" ticket gate.

2. Go to the "Exit 2 Koshu Kaido / Southern Terrace"

As soon as you exit the ticket gate and turn right, you will see a sign that says "Exit 2 Koshu Kaido / Southern Terrace". Follow the signs to the ground.

3. After exiting "Exit 2", turn right on the main street (Koshu Kaido)

When you go to the ground from "Exit 2", there is a big street called Koshu Kaido in front of you. Turn right and go straight for a while along the Koshu Kaido.

4. Take an escalator to the 3rd floor of Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal

You can see the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal building on your right. Take an escalator to the building.

5. Go straight on the taxi stand

When you go up by escalator, you will arrive at the taxi stand on the 3rd floor of Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal.
To take the highway bus, follow the blue arrow on the floor.

6. Take an escalator on your right

If you follow the blue arrow, there is an escalator that goes up to the 4th floor. Take it to go to the 4th floor where the highway bus stop is located.

7. Now you are at the bus stop!

You will arrive at the bus stop of Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal on the 4th floor.

It is too far from Seibu Shinjuku Line Shinjuku Station! Better to exchange trains on the way

Shinjuku Station of the Seibu Shinjuku Line is located away from Shinjuku Station on other railway lines.
It may take more than 15 minutes to Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal.
It is also quite difficult to walk with a large baggage, as you will be passing through a very crowded area.
It may take longer than expected and you may not be in time for the bus。

When taking the Seibu Shinjuku Line, it is recommended to get off at Takadanobaba Station and transfer to the JR Yamanote Line.
The walking distance in the crowd is considerably shorter, and the direct connection from the JR line to Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal makes it easy to reach Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal.
