Essential equipment for skiing and snowboarding
Below are the essential items for skiing and snowboarding. You can rent most of these at ski resorts.
When renting, you will need identification, so bring your student ID, passport, driver's license, etc.

Skis and snowboards
The main items, ski boards and snowboards are expensive to purchase. For beginners, it is recommended to start by renting.

Ski and snowboard boots
As with ski boards and snowboards, renting is recommended. However, the size you want may not be available on busy days, so be sure to reserve early.

Bindings and leash cords
Bindings and leash cords are the devices that connect your snowboard to your boots. In most cases, they are included with the snowboard rental.

Snow clothes
You can rent clothing, but some top and bottom sets can be purchased for about 5,000 yen, so if you plan to go more than once, you may want to buy the clothing of your choice.

Goggles, gloves, caps
Goggles, gloves, and a hat are necessary to protect your eyes and hands from the strong UV rays and the cold. You need to know if you can rent them or buy them because some ski resorts do not allow rental.

Notice
ID is required when renting, so bring your student ID, passport, or driver's license.
What to prepare by yourself

Clothes to wear inside
A layered T-shirt or sweatshirt for the upper body and thick tights and pants for the lower body are common. Moisture-absorbent and quick-drying materials are preferable for the clothes you wear inside.

Face masks and neck warmers
These are the items that protect you from the cold. The low temperature on the slopes and strong winds can easily take your body heat.

Sunscreen
On the ski slopes, UV rays are strong due to the reflection from the snow. You should take UV protection as much as possible.

Lip balm
The air is dry on the slopes. Even if you are not usually bothered by dryness, you may want to bring a lip balm.

ID card
ID is required when renting, so bring your student ID, passport, or driver's license.

Travel insurance
When skiing or snowboarding, you may get injured. You should bring a travel insurance document with you if you have one.
