The JMSDF Maizuru District Force is deployed in the city of Maizuru. Based on their habit of eating curry on the ships on Friday, a “Friday is Curry Day” project was launched in the city. You can taste JMSDF curry that reproduces the recipe on the actual destroyers and base with the “JS Myoko” recipe.
In the car, the background music is a song performed by the Maizuru Band!

The zone Maizuru District Force is responsible for defending extends over the whole Sea of Japan side, from Akita Prefecture in the north to Shimane Prefecture in the west, and it is patrolled by destroyers under the Fleet Escort Force with its home port in Maizuru Port, and the air detachment, etc., under the Fleet Air Force. Post-operation support to ensure that the ships and air detachment can operate smoothly, including resupply, repairs, and personnel affairs, is another major responsibility of the district force.
In addition, it also engages in disposal of hazardous objects like mines that wash ashore, and rescue, recovery, and transport missions when disasters or accidents occur.

Within the district force area, there are facilities open for tours by the general public, including Admiral Togo’s Office, the Navy Memorial Hall, Japan Self Defense Force Pier, and Maizuru Air Base. (You must confirm dates tours are available on the JMSDF Maizuru District Force website)
Furthermore, the Maizuru District Force has established the popular Maizuru Self-Defense Force Band, which performs when ships leave and return to port, as well as at various ceremonies and events, etc.
