Lake Chuzenji (Chuzenjiko)
Lake Chuzenji has a circumference of approximately 25 kilometers, a maximum depth of 163 meters, and an altitude of 1,269 meters above sea level, making it one of the highest lakes in Japan.
You can enjoy the beautiful scenery of each season. Especially in autumn, when the autumn leaves are reflected on the lake surface, it is a perfect photo spot for photography enthusiasts. There is also a historic shrine (Futarasan Shrine Chugu Shrine) located on the shores of Lake Chuzenji, where you can spend a solemn time with the beautiful scenery.
Kegon Waterfalls
Kegon Falls is one of Japan's three great waterfalls, and is a magnificent waterfall with a height of 97 meters.
This is a beautiful waterfall where the water of Lake Chuzenji falls, creating a beautiful landscape of waterfalls and trees that turn red and yellow in autumn. The waterfall is wide and tall enough that the sound of water falling into the basin and the splashing are very impressive.
From the observation deck set up in front of the waterfall, you can enjoy the powerful waterfall up close.
To reach the observation deck, take an elevator and descend about 100 meters.
Nikko Toshogu
Nikko Toshogu Shrine is a shrine dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, one of the world heritage sites, and is famous for its luxurious decoration and historical value.
The gate, also known as the Higurashi Gate, located within the shrine grounds is one of the buildings that symbolizes Toshogu Shrine. Due to the precision and beauty of the carvings, it is said that you can look at them all day and never get tired of them. It has more than 500 carvings and is extremely beautiful.
Feel the history and culture, and take your time to strolling around each spot and enjoy the stunning sculptures and architecture.
Shinkyo Bridge
Shinkyo Bridge is a historic bridge that is said to have been built in 1628, and has been used since the Edo period as a bridge leading to important sacred sites in Nikko.
The vermillion color of Shinkyo Bridge is very impressive and contrasts well with the surrounding nature.
Although you cannot cross it, it is a popular photo spot that you shoud not miss when visiting Nikko area.
The Kinugawa River flows under Shinbashi Bridge, and the beautiful reflection of the clear stream and the bridge is a highlight. The scenery of the murmuring river and the bridge gives visitors a refreshing feeling.
