Kurokawa Onsen
Beppu has 8 different springs named Beppu Onsen, Kannawa Onsen, Myoban Onsen, Kankaiji Onsen, Hamawaki Onsen, Kamegawa Onsen, Horita Onsen and Shibaseki Onsen. Aside from conventional hot water baths, Beppu offers sand baths where bathers are buried in naturally heated sand, steam baths that are heated by the steam of a hot spring, and mud baths which are basically muddy hot water baths.
Aso area
Aso is one of the areas you should not miss when visiting Kumamoto. Mount Aso, one of the attractive spots in Aso, is a large active volcano in the center of Kyushu. Impressive nature attracts people all over the world. In addition, Kusasenrigahama is also recommended. The beautiful prairie of 785,000 square meter in the crater spreads in northern part of Mt. Eboshi that is one of the Aso Five Mountains. Enjoy horse back riding.
Kumamoto Castle
Kumamoto Castle is a hilltop Japanese castle located in Chuo ward, Kumamoto in Kumamoto Prefecture. It was a large and extremely well-fortified castle. The castle tower (tenshukaku) is a concrete reconstruction built in 1960, but several ancillary wooden buildings of the original castle remain. Kumamoto Castle was ranked number one in the "castle you want to visit again” ranking for Trip Advisor, Japan in 2013.
